The Powerfect plug is used to plug leaking tubes in Shell-and-Tube Heat Exchangers. It is fully removable and reusable.Various patents have been issued for removable plugs. The main objective of feedwater heater maintenance is to arrest leakage as soon as possible and to gather information to allow failure cause analysis. To achieve this end, the Powerfect plug's removability/reusability features offer real benefit during forced or limited outage situations. Be aware that removable plugs, employing an elastomer have an inherent finite life. In most cases they are intended for temporary service. The period of successful operation depends on many variables, including the rate at which the polymer may deteriorate, based on the service to which it is exposed.
